HCP instance account connectivity with Data Provisionoing DP Agent for SDI

Hi All,

We have HANA instance in AWS and were able to successfully able to connect to DP agent ( in Redhat Linux instance) using HANA instance IP and SYSTEM user.

Now we have to replicate the same setup for a HCP instance and get SDI working.

We have been given the following credentails for HCP account(sample)-

URL: us1.hana.ondemand.com

Account name: f5q6e458t

user name : abc_xyz@gmail.com

Password : ***********

DATABASE DETAILS

Databases: sapstartups

Database user: ABC_ADMIN1

Database password: ********

We are trying to connect HCP with DP agent using the tool and we have the following details:

Landscape host: us1.hana.ondemand.com

Account name: f5q6e458t

Username : abc_xyz@gmail.com

Password : *********

DATABASE DETAILS

Databases: sapstartups

Database user: ABC_ADMIN1

Database password:********

We have tried to connect to hana server in the DP AGENT tool connection by using following combinations:

(According to the HANA guides the following URL should be used  <your_instance_name>.hana.ondemand.com.So we have tried the following entries but are not able to connect.)

Hana hostname (Trial 1): us1.hana.ondemand.com

Hana hostname (Trial 2): sapstartups.us1.hana.ondemand.com

Port : 8000

Hana admin user: ABC_ADMIN1

Hana admin Password: **********

But we are not able to login and we are getting the following error:

(Trial 1)   "Failed to connect to HANA server. Request  Failed for ADMIN_SET_CONFIG_PROPERTIES

      Context: Connection to http://us1.hana.ondemand.com:8000 refused"

(Trial 2)  "Failed to connect to HANA server. Request  Failed for ADMIN_SET_CONFIG_PROPERTIES

       Context: Connection to http://sapstartups.us1.hana.ondemand.com:8000 refused"

We have also tried the same using a Tunnel and used the corresponding IP but it has still not worked.

Kindly help us on this issue as it is critical for us to proceed with the next step of SDI setupp in HCP

Thanks

Hi Prateek,

I made this scenario work once. Unfortunately, I didn't find my notes about it right now, but here's what I can recall:

  • Hostname: you need to use the same url for this as when opening the HANA Cockpit/Web-based Development workbench. In your case this should be "sapstartups<accountId>.us1.hana.ondemand.com". Replace <accountId> with the technical account ID of your HCP account (the one staring with the GUID-based name). This is the only Url under which the HANA system is reachable from the Internet.
  • Port: HCP HANA systems can only be reached via https (not http), so you need to use port 443
  • For the SSL connection to work you need to add the public certificates of your HANA system to your local truststore for the DP Agent. Since HCP load balancers termitate the SSL connection this is not the individual one from inside the HANA system (as suggested in the on-premise documentation for SDI), but the one from the HCP load balancers. The best way to get them is to open your HANA XS start page (https://apstartups<accountId>.us1.hana.ondemand.com) with a browser and clicking on the certificate icon. I know that at least Firefox gives you then the option to download the certificates. You should add the whole chain to the DP Agent's truststore.

Best regards,

Oliver
