Handling NULL value in MDM Import manager

Former Member

Hi all,

I am getting a value in Soruce field as (1,Null,Null). Butt MDM dosent understands and maps to NULL value . So no value is populated in Data MAanger even we have value 1 in (1,Null,Null)

It expects as <Null> instead of Null.

if i give 1, <Null>,<Null> using Replace fucntion replacing 1,Null,Null then it accpets and maps automatically.

Is there any trick requires in Configuratio or in field level in Import manager to handle this value Null.??

Thanks

Pradeep

Hi Pradeep,

Something quick to try out...

try normalization in this field in Import Manager.

Hi,

@Goel: what do u mean by Normalisation of Import Manger?

@ All: How MDM reacts for the Values with <Null> and Null. And what is the difference between those value. Which has the value and Blank.

And difference between Replace and Update Funcitonality in Set qualifier Update in IM.

Thanks,

Pradeep.

HI Pradeep,

In import manager right click on the field mapping and go to set conversion filter.

You can see normalise option there, this removes all the special characters and blanks form the field value.

Solution to your problem lies in remote key values, which can help automap this too.

Please give more details of fields involved, like number of display fields in this and the field import related details.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi,

Read about Null Values in Import Manager reference guide -

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/32/3a86d8e96e4579a7dea61f1f1c408c/frameset.htm

You can map to and from NULL values as follows:

· NULL to NULL

In the most straightforward case, you can simply value map the destination value.
