what is the basic difference between the LO and COPA extraction methods

Technically LO is based in LIS tables, LIS is the old logistic module from SAP....and that was updated; but the way the data is organized and the structures are used in LO cockpit and LO datasources; the extraction of this datasources use setup tables that load some special tables for initial load, COPA is referred to Controlling datasources...this datasources dont have a setup tables...

LO uses setup tables. meaning that to initialise you have to follow the procedure. you can search sdn for detailed guidelines. Lo cockpit also uses V3 update jobs. for initializations, you have to do the LO init when nobody is on the system. COPA you can do with activity on the system

LO related to logistics. SAP had givven ready made datasources. just you need to active the Data source.
COPA is generic datasource. It depends upon operating concern.
