Hi,
Can somone explain me how to perform generic extraction using Domain fixed values option (since fixed domain is a preferable choice for text datasources when compared to function module). I need to create a generic text datasource based on a non-transparent table. I would appreciate, if someone can guide me to some good resource related to Domain fixed generic extraction.
Thanks.
govind,
i think it depends on what version of PI is installed in your R/3 system - when you create a generic text datasource, you should see an option "extraction from domain fixed values" at the bottom. there you simply define what domain you will extract from (like ESTAK - PO status). it's that simple.
if it's not available for some reason, try to see if there's a text table you could base your values off from, such as in my example, T148T.
hope this helps - don't forget to assign points if it does.

govind,
open your cluster table, and look at the field that has your value (for example, EKKO-STATU). now open that table-field in SE11, and double-click on its field type (in my case, ESTAK). you should see its domain definition there (ESTAK again in my case). you could double-click on it again and check the value range to make sure that it is the right texts you need.
in this way, you now know what domain value to use. hope that solves your problem!

Hi Govind,
Domain extraction and FM extractions are two different types of extraction. You can't mix them.
If you know that you data is in a cluster table you should use FM extraction, because Domain and Table are also different animals.
You can use Domain extractor only if you have your data in a Domain. If accidentally you know a Domain that have same data as your cluster table than you can use Domain extraction.
Hope this clarifies your question.

govind ,
Could you elaborate a little bit more on the scenario that you are facing , I am not too clear on what is it that you want.
It could be helpful if you could give us the business scenario / actual scenario for which you need the answers.
