Flexible update in BI 7.0

Hi

I have been asked to extract master data from R/3, and was asked to do a flexible update. I am on BI 7.0. I had read somewhere that the preferred method of transfering data is by transformation in BI 7 and so transfer rules and update rules are not needed. I went thru the forum and found the steps for flexible update i.e the following thread

but i dont have any such option when i right click on the application components, the only option that i have is "Create Infosource".

Should i create an Infosource or can i use the datasource to transfer the master data to my targets???

Hi,

well in case you are dealing with a 3.x datasource you have to connect it to a infosource first, then you can connect the infosource to whatever target you like.

but i have migrated the datasource. Should i do it in this condition as well?? and how can i use teh existing transfer rules for the tranformation?
