Find lost serial number

Former Member

Hello,

Is it possible to retrieve the serial number from a Sybase install? I'm currently running a production license copy of SQLAnywhere 9 on a Red Hat Linux server. I'd like to use that license and transfer over to a Solaris version of SQLAnywhere 9 on a Solaris server. I'm unable to find the paperwork with the registration and licensing information on it. Is it possible to extract that license number somehow?

Thanks,

Binh

AFAIK There is currently no way to recover the serial number from installed software in version 9 or prior versions (see Bill's comment for versions 10 and higher).

If you purchased your copy directly from Sybase, then you can likely call your local Sybase Sales representative and they can lookup your account and give you a copy of the key that you had purchased. See http://www.sybase.com/contactus for contact information. (Note: I'm not in sales so hopefully they can do this?)

For versions 10 and up of SQL Anywhere, the dblic utility will display the license key used to install the software. Sorry, this doesn't help you for version 9.

Running 'dblic.exe dbeng10.lic' displays: SQL Anywhere Server Licensing Utility Version 10.0.1.3415 License read successfully. Licensed nodes: 1 User: Bill Hillis Company: Sybase iAnywhere Install key: ?????????????????????????
