Hi

experts

Please explain me the difference between the Extractor and Process chain , when the situation exists where I can fetch data from ECC.

How best can I utilize both of them and which one should i prefer

Thanks

  • extractor: a program which handles the extraction (copying) of data from the source system to your BW system

  • process chain: a feature in BW which enables you to automate & regulate extraction etc.

Extractors fetch the data, process chains decide when, in short

You have to create a process chain to extract the data from ECC.

Then also in this process chain you should update the data to an infprovider.

I suggest you read a little about process chains, there's a lot to find on SCN & help.sap.com.

Also, it's quite intuitive: start transaction RSPC in BW.

If there are already process chains present, you can study them.

Correct me if i am wrong
