Hello,

Quite often in our SAP Data services environment, users have been reporting about the error '[Except thrown when trying to communicate with Job Server: XXXXXX:3500. Socket Closed]'.

This issue occurs all of a sudden while the system worked fine till the last day. There were no changes applied or done to the system. We did some analysis but our study did not nail down to the root cause of the issue.

As a work around we restart the node, but we are looking for a root cause and a permanent solution.

We checked the KBA# 2983633, but the recommended solution is not valid here. Does anyone has a thought or a solution on this? Please assist.

Our BODS runs on this environment:

OS: Win 2016

IPS: 4.2 SP08 Patch 05

Data Services: 4.2 SP014 Patch 06

Thank you.

Hello, Kaushik,

Thank you for the response. Your response gave us a clue or direction. The issue was that the drive was full with no space that caused this issue. We added extra space and this fixed the issue.

Thank you.

Hi aravindky,

Could you please check if a Hybrid environment is there in your landscape using CIFS mount, Can you please confirm with your Infrastructure guys if such mounts/shares are getting choked after certain time & then until the restart happens the Job tries run but cannot get the proper path to execute & results in creating huge Log Files, which gets cleared upon reboot of your system

Probably you can co-ordinate with your networking guys to check if there is a drop between the two servers

Could you please check the below SAP Note for /etc/hosts,

Thanks,

Kaushik
