initSID.ora contains

event='10027 trace name context forever, level 1','10028 trace name context forever, level 1','10091 trace name context forever, level 1','10162 trace name context forever, level 1','10183 trace name context forever, level 1','10191 trace name context forever, level 1','10629 trace name context forever, level 32','10891 trace name context forever, level 1','14532 trace name context forever, level 1','38068 trace name context forever, level 100','38087 trace name context forever, level 1','44951 trace name context forever, level 1024'

...So single quote. For me best way to set this,

1. take a backup of both SPFILE and P File.

2.Change Even directly in P file.

3. Shutdown database

4. Create SPFILE from P file.

5. Startup database.

Or else you can use the procedure you are following..but just with a single quote.

alter system set event='10027 trace name context forever, level 1','10028 trace name context forever, level 1','10091 trace name context forever, level 1','10162 trace name context forever, level 1','10183 trace name context forever, level 1','10191 trace name context forever, level 1','10629 trace name context forever, level 32','10891 trace name context forever, level 1','14532 trace name context forever, level 1','38068 trace name context forever, level 100','38087 trace name context forever, level 1','44951 trace name context forever, level 1024' scope=spfile;

Hi,

Even though i have given double quote in a command but it is showing as a single quote in initsid.ora.

and when i fired alter system set command it gave me sysstem altered. that means it has done successfully.

To do this again i need t take one more shut down so i want to be sure before take the shutdown.

Avinash

I never tried with double quote. I used single quote. I also used the method i mentioned in my last post.

so, I think you should go for single quote as this is a static param and you need downtime.

After altering, shutdown, and startup...database only ( not sap) ...from the "Show Parameter, check whether the new values are refrelected,and if everything is fine, then generate P file from spfile.

Hi,

If it relates to SAP why not change the parameters using BRTOOLS.

Else

Try using SCOPE=BOTH.

or

supply full path and

CREATE PFILE = u2018$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/name.orau2019

FROM SPFILE = u2018$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/name.orau2019;

Not sure about it, but so far I have only seen this command with single quotes ' instead of double quotes ".

Check the syntax in SAP note 601157.
