Hi,
Looking for a way to consume custom RAP events created on S/4HANA Private Cloud or On-Premise in BTP ABAP Environment using Event Consumption Model.
2. Event consumption model for standard S/4HANA events using AsyncAPI on BTP ABAP environment - Step 4 onwards. AsyncAPI/Event metadata for released events can be downloaded from api.sap.com
My question is how can I generate the event metadata/AsyncAPI file for custom RAP events in S/4HANA Private Cloud to be able to use the event consumption model in BTP ABAP environment. I know it is possible to generate the event metadata for RAP events in S/4HANA Public Cloud - Steps 1 to 3, but is this possible on Private cloud. If not how can we consume custom RAP events from private cloud in SAP BTP ABAP environment?

Saurabh

Hi Saurabh,
Good question! I checked the two tutorials you mentioned, and it looks like you can consume custom RAP events from S/4HANA Private Cloud in a SAP BTP ABAP environment.
There might be a few details to work out, but give this a try as a way of building on what you've already figured out:

Hi Tuncay,
Thanks for answering.
If you look at step 4 of Event Consumption in SAP BTP, ABAP Environment a .json (event metadata) file is required for creating the event consumption model in BTP ABAP environment. Now if you look at How to Create RAP Business Events in an On-Premise system this file is never generated and hence not available for creating the event consumption model in BTP ABAP environment. And that is the answer I'm looking for - How do we generate the event metadata file for custom RAP events in an private cloud or on-premise system. You can generate the event metadata file on a public cloud system for custom events as is mentioned in step 3 of Event Consumption in SAP BTP, ABAP Environment but this step is not available in the private cloud. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
Thanks again.

Hi Saurabh,
Absolutely. It's a very valid point. I spent almost two hours on this lovely Sunday morning trying to figure this out, but I think I found the clue. 🙂 The mechanism is obviously different between S/4HANA Public Cloud and S/4HANA On-Premise/Private Cloud.
Here's what we need to do, I hope:
It is my hope that this information will prove useful to you. I wish you the best of luck!
Thanks,
Tuncay
