ESS - Updating "Family Member/Dependents"

We are on ERP2005 and are testing ESS.

We are unable to add a child in the "Family Member/Dependents" part of the Personal Information screen.

We have tried to update the table in "Define Active Subtypes and Application Case" in the IMG by adding subtype 2 to Infotype 21. However, we get the error "There is an inconsistency in the usecase maintained for this record" when we try to add the Infotype 21 with Subtype 2 - this error occurs with any value we try in the "Use Case" field.

Does anyone know how to add the facility to update (create/modify) dependents through ESS?

Thanks & Regards

Hi Rob,

You get this error because you might be entering a usecase which is not allowed for the child subtype. check the IMG node documentation for the node ''Define Active Subtypes and Application Case' and enter the allowed usecase for the child subtype. This should solve your problem.

Hi

In the help for the "Use Case" field SAP suggest that "A3" or "B3" are suitable for Child Scenario. We get the error for both entries. Indeed we get the error when we try any of the entries in the "pull down" of allowed entries.

We have set up the sub-type of child for IT0021 also.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi Rob,

You have mentioned that the error message comes, when you try to enter the usecase for child. But can you please check whether the error message comes for the child entry or for other entry where the use case entered is wrong.

Hi

Not sure what you mean - but I can add records for other Infotypes (eg Address) and I can create a record of Infotype 0021 (Family Members) with subtype "1" (Spouse), but not IT0021/2 (Child).

Does that clarify?

Thanks for your time.

Hi

Has been resolved - the entries for the table were delivered in Client 000, but for some reason were not transfered to our Dev Client.

We never did get an answer as to why the system prevented the updating of entries manually - I guess it is just one of life's (SAP) mysteries!

Thanks for your time
