Hello Everyone,

As a part of HCM,we have to configure ESS and MSS services in Portal.

As a start, I have made the following plan:

1. Activate EA-HR add-on

2. Download ESS and MSS packages

Download the Business Packages from the Below Location

Support Packages and Patches SAP Application Components SAP ERP SAP ERP 6.0 Entry by Component Portal Content

BP ERP05 ESS 1.0

BP ERP05 MSS 1.0

Support Packages and Patches SAP Application Components SAP ERP SAP ERP 6.0 Entry by Component SAP XSS (Self Services)

SAP MSS 600

SAP PCUI_GP 600

SAP ESS 600

3. Pre-requisites for ESS

To implement the Business Package for Employee Self-Service, you must install the following software components as outlined in the Installation Guide:

● SAP Netweaver 2004s with Portal

● Portal - ESS applications run in SAP Enterprise Portal.

● Web Dynpro Development Components PCUI_GP and ESS.

● SAP ERP Core Components (SAP ECC) 6.0 with the following extensions:

○ Human Resources Extension (EA-HR)

○ Financials Extension (EA-FIN)

● System Landscape Directory (SLD)

● Internet Graphics Server (IGS)

If you want to set up an Internet Graphics Server (IGS), you must use the Visual Administrator. For more information, see SAP Notes 704604 and 454042.

● Adobe Document Services (ADS)

If you want to implement PDF-based forms in Employee Self-Service applications, you need Adobe Document Services. This enables you to integrate interactive forms in your applications. For example, you can integrate interactive forms in applications from the Corporate Information area. For more information, see Adobe Document Services and Interactive Forms Based on Adobe Software.

● Guided Procedures (GP)

If you want to use applications from the Life and Work Events area, you have to use and configure Guided Procedures. For general information about Guided Procedures, see CAF Guided Procedures. For information about using Guided Procedures within Employee Self-Service, see Configuration of Guided Procedures. For an overview of the applications contained in this area in the standard system, see Life and Work Events.

4. Pre-requisites for MSS

You have obtained an overview of the software components required and the implementation strategy. To do this, see the Master Guides and the Installation Guides on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/instguides.

To use all the functions of MSS, you must install the following:

● SAP NetWeaver 2004s with:

○ Enterprise Portal (with Knowledge Management)

○ Application Server Java (with Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) Engine)

○ Business Intelligence (with NW 2004s BI Content Add-On 2)

○ Adobe Document Services (ADS) (with Java Connector (JCo) connection to the J2EE Engine and to the ERP system)

○ Internet Graphics Service (IGS) (with JCo connection to the J2EE Engine)

○ System Landscape Directory (SLD) (with JCo connection to the J2EE Engine and to the ERP system)

● Web Dynpro Development Components:

○ PCUI_GP

○ MSS

○ SAP_PSS

● Business Packages:

○ Business Package for Manager Self-Service (mySAP ERP) 1.0

○ Business Package for Common Parts (mySAP ERP) 1.0

○ Business Package for Project Self-Service (mySAP ERP) 1.0

● SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) 6.0 with:

○ Financials Extension (EA-FIN)

○ Human Resources Extension (EA-HR)

● SAP Collaboration Projects (cProjects) 4.0

● SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) 5.0

● SAP Strategic Enterprise Management (SAP SEM) 6.0

For information about the availability of these components, see the Product Availability Matrix (PAM) on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/pam.

For information about the security settings for these components, see the relevant security guides on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/securityguide. In particular, note the "Self-Services" section in the "Cross-Application Components" chapter of SAP ERP Central Component Security Guide.

Please let me know if this makes sense and also if you can help me with the guides for ESS/MSS configuration

Rohit
