I am working with a BW system for which data is being reported from an infocube. There are errors in reports and after analyzing everything I came to know that the problem is with cube data. Some of the records in Infocube have too many multiple records(about 60) for a single record and some have fewer multiple records(about 5). I found that the errors are occuring for the records with too many multiple records. Can any one explain me why a single record has multiple entries and then why some of them have too many?? Also I would appreciate if any body could actually suggest me a method for correcting the errors? Is reloading data only way?
I would first advise you to look into the nature of error in the reported data. Also if you are working on a development system ....
1. Create some records - push them into PSA and if necessary copy them into Excel and check for consistency. Now load the data into data target/ cube and then go into report and check against the data you have in Excel.
This is the main reason why it is preferable to have an ODS before the cube so that data aggregation is taken care of. Also think twice before deleting data directly from the cube , it might lead to different results.
InfoCube always add data no overwrite functionality is available. May be in your case duplication is because of multiple loads or duplication from the source system itself.
You can rectify this by selective deletion after analysing your wrong data. You need not to reload once again.
Hope it helps you.
