Hi Raymond,

I am trying to create a BI iview in the portal. Y am I getting JCO exception in bi? JCO exception is normally related to webdynpro. How is that related to bi?

Please suggest.

Regards,

Subashini.

Hi Subashini,

Pls read my links and especially on the post of others who have the same error message as you do. Updating the service file is what you need to do if the backend system that you have is not available during the installation of your Portal. So, if you check on the posts I have linked above, most people who share the same error as you do, did not have the backend system message server information being updated int the Portal server service file. Ask your basis team or Datacentre guys to check that file for you and if your BI message server info is not in that file, ask them to input it into teh file and then you can try again with your Iview creation.

I'm not a SAP archi, thus I will link you the below about message server. Hope it will shine you some light.

As for your JCO's question, SAP BI Query is a component of SAP's Web Application Server that allows you to create custom reports without any ABAP programming knowledge. The BI SAP Query Connector uses SAP Query to allow applications created with the BI Java SDK to access data from these SAP operational applications. This connector is fully compliant with the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA). Click on the below for a better insight.

Hope that helps.
