Error : Updatemode R

Hi all,

I was trying to load delta for some master data. the load fails and the system gives me a msg

"The Application program for the extraction of the data was called using Update mode R. However, this is not supported by the infosource"

What is Update mode R? If the infosource doesnt support, what needs to be done to get the delta load?

Any pointers or help would be appreciated.

Hi Mav,

I believe it refers to repetition of delta. If you have the last delta load available in PSA, load it from PSA or alternatively do an initial load, and resume by delta loads.

Anyway, to call up documentation on 0RECORDMODE (BW Delta process: Update mode), call Transaction SE11, display data type RODMUPDMOD -> Pushbutton Documentation. Here you will find more useful information on the possible features for InfoObject 0RECORDMODE (space,X,A,D,R,N,Y).

However, 'R' if the record delivers a reverse image.

The content of this record is the same as the content of a before image. The only difference is with an ODS object update: Existing records with the same key are deleted.

Hi Maverick,

I faced this when going through a BW upgrade, and it was for master data as you have mentioned...searched a lot of notes and spent time. Ultimately concluded that it is better to just do a re-init for the master data, I mean since it is master data, this is something you can afford to do .

Two unrelated issues have been addressed in these replies: Update Mode = R and Record Mode = R. Obviously yours is the first one. Sree gave you a correct answer: BW tries to re-extract failed Delta with next extraction. It knows that it failed from the load status.

Unfortunately some of the DataSources delivered without support of this Update Mode and it looks like your DataSource is one of those.

Basically you have two options here:

1. Fix the data in PSA, if exist, and reconstruct the load until it gets Green

2. Make a full load.
