Error importing epa-file

Former Member

Hi all,

I'm using EP6.0 and have successfully implemented a web application with the appintgrator component.

My Problem now points to the deployment.

I've created a transport pakage for exporting my components. The export of this transport pakage works fine and an epa file is created.

But importing this newly created epa file is not possible due to the following error:

"Error extracting the package file. Check the log files for details." I've included the log file entry at the bottom of this message.

Does anyone have a suggestion what went wrong ?

Even if I create a transport pakage e.g. only with a simple folder it's not possible to re-import it with the same error.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Hi Michael,

1) Did you check with WinZIP or a similar tool if the EPA can be opened / extracted manually withour errors?

2) Check if the ZIP (the entries, i.e. file/folder names) contains Umlauts (probably it has not, for there should already be problems creating the ZIP through Java).

3.) On which version are you?

Hope it helps

Hi Detlev,

thnks for hte quick response !

Yes, it's possible to open the epa-file with a zip client.

I can see its content and no umlauts are used.

The version info I get is:

Netweaver Developer Cockpit for Java Version 60.11.3 May-2005

NDC running on Netweaver Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP11 Patch 3 upwards

Hi Michael,

sounds strange. I never tested this on SP11, but for it is somewhat a core task, I at least would expect a SAP note if there has been a known problem (which I cannot find).

About the version: You gave the version of the PDK, not the one of the EP installation itself.

Two questions:

a) On which EP-version(s) are you testing indeed?

b) Are both versions (the one from where you export and the one on which you try to import) on the same level?

If "b = No" try to streamline your versions.

If "a < SP12", consider upgrading your installations.

Otherwise I would advise to open an OSS message.

Hope it helps

Hi Detlev,

thanks again for spending time on my problem !

Can you give me a hint where I can find the EP Version ?

I sent you the info that I've found in the EP menu (Java Development/Version).

The versions for ex- and importing are identical (It's the same portal).

For example:

I created only a single folder in the EP.

(Only for testing the im-export functionality)

Then I create a transport package that includes this folder and execute it. The epa file was created successfully.

When I then try to import this package, I get the error.

Can you tell me where I can find the upgrade to SP12 ?

I'd like to give it a try...

Best regards,

Michael

Hi Michael,

> Can you give me a hint where I can find the EP Version ?

System Administration - Support - Support Desk - Version.

> Can you tell me where I can find the upgrade to SP12 ?

On the service marketplace: http://service.sap.com/swdc (you need an OSS user for this).

Hope it helps

Hi Detlev,

I could solve the problem and would like to thank you for your help.

The reason is that the export functionality creates an epa file that includes the zipped epa file itself ?!?

So I have to extract the content of the epa file and rename the extension of the content to epa. I seems to be a bug in the export but with this workarround it works.

Best regards,

Michael
