Error connecting to HXE via

I am following the creating ABAP tutorial:

But when I try to log in this is displayed:

"Logon to system HXE failed (partner 'hxehost:3390' not reached)"

I am using Hana express in a VM locally. I can connect to XS and XSA through chrome but if I "telnet hxehost 3390" it will say "connection refused".

My hosts file in the VM is as follows:

127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain.com localhost

::1             localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

fe00::0         ipv6-localnet

ff00::0         ipv6-mcastprefix

ff02::1         ipv6-allnodes

ff02::2         ipv6-allrouters

ff02::3         ipv6-allhosts

192.168.0.231   hxehost hxehost.localdomain.com

Does anybody know why is the service not started?

Please can you explain what you are trying to do? Are you trying to connect to the VM machine on OS level or are you trying to connect to the XS Advanced runtime on terminal level?

I'm also a little bit confused why you are linking to a tutorial which describes the connection to a SAP NW ABAP server. It does not really fit into the context of your question.
