Hello experts,
Currently i have 2 server for configuring ESS/MSS,one is EP 7 server which is java stack and the other is the backend server which is ECC 6(ABAP and JAVA stack).both are in SP13 level.
Can anyone tell me the location where XSS components and business packages must be installed and where exactly Jco connections should be maintained??????
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You have to do XSS configuration on EP server side as your R3 comes along with XSS.
Below are some very important points to be noted.
n Backend system:
u0178 The SAP ECC 6.0 backend system contains all XSS-specific content by default.
u0178 Therefore, no additional components must be installed for XSS in the backend system.
n Portal system:
u0178 The SAP EP 7.0 system does not contain XSS-specific content by default.
u0178 Therefore, you have to install all required XSS-specific software packages according to the SAP Master and Installation Guides.
n Solution Manager system:
u0178 The SAP Solution Manager is required because you need to generate an installation key, which is used during the SAP XSS upgrade.
u0178 Additionally, you need Solution Manager Diagnostics (SMD) especially for SAP XSS (because of the Java-based software components). Solution Manager Diagnostics is designed to monitor SAP Java-based applications.
n Please note:
u0178 You can implement a landscape with ERP2005 together with XSS 500 (using EP6.0 and BP-ERP2004). On the other hand, XSS 600 (EP7.0 and BP-ERP2005) does not work with an ERP2004. It requires an ERP2005 system
and then coming to your JCOs...
After deploying your ESS packages, then you have to congfigure a technical system for ABAP through SLD.
for SLd,
Login to portal -> Content Adminiatration -> WebDynPro-->Check SLD -> Create a technical System...
There, you have to select the corrosponding ECC(in your case it will be ECC 6.0)
Then, under
Content Adminiatration -> WebDynPro-->Maintain JCo destinations, you can create the required JCOs...

latha,
you have to install the XSS-Services on a portal (the customizing/personalisation is stored there), so if your java-stack installed on the backend does'nt have a portal on top (what I suppose), you don't have a choice.
check note 1007341, there you would be scenario 3.
