Just wondering if it is possible to edit a query in Crystal Reports WITHOUT running it. I have a query that I need to edit, but I do not want to run it right away. The problem I am having is that when I edit the command through Database Expert, I have to click the 'OK' button. Clicking that button then runs the query, which then causes Crystal to crash, and I have to start over because I was unable to save my edits. Does anyone know a way around this issue?
Work on the query in a database tool outside of Crystal, such as Toad or SQL Server Management Studio. Get it working there with hard-coded values for any parameters you're using. Then copy it and paste it in to the Command editor, making whatever changes are needed for any parameters that you're using.
