Editing locally - get check out time

Hello Community,

I'm using EP6.0 and we have several documents in a collaboration room. There we use the check in and check out feature while editing the documents there.

Now we are searching the information when a document was checked out by somebody. Now we can only see, who is working on it, but not since when.

Is it possible to get this time and show it on the detail page or somewhere else?

Thanks in advance for every hint.

Regards,

Frank

Hi Frank,

Im not sure if this could solve your problem but yes, there exists a property using which you can get an idea when was a document last read.

If you please navigate to:

System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Property Metadata.

This would give you all the properties that are linked with content management.

When you check Details of any document, the properties (modified date, created date, etc) all exist in the above mentioned Property Metadata.

If exists, you can use the property.

Read more:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/75/e000861cb8ad4b8e4f19dd6416346d/frameset.htm

Assuming that it does exist then how should you add this property such that its visible/accessing in Document details:

Navigate to => System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Property Structures.

The tabs that you see in Document details are all placed in tabs.

If you want your property to be placed in a different one, then create your tab, add your property and add this tab in the all_groups tab.

You may check the details in these documetns:

All the best!

Hi Ritu,

thanks for your answer, but I can't check these settings here at work. I'm just a normal user having admin-rights in a collaboration room.

I've found some properties in the folder options (there where I can set profiles or change properties of the folder presentation). There I can add different properties (up to 170) to show in the standard profile, while browsing the folders. But there is nothing like a 'checked out since xx:yy DD:MM:YYYY'-property. Is there something like this? Or another property which can be usefull to get this time?

Frank

Hi Frank,

there is no such explicit property defined. Anyhow, you can access lock information by IResource.getLocks() - see http://media.sdn.sap.com/javadocs/preNW04/SP2/60_sp2_javadocs/km/com/sapportals/wcm/repository/IReso... - which returns a list of ILockInfo's from which you can get the creation time by getCreated().

From the API, a resource can have multiple locks. I don't know if this is a realistic case in general. One could implement a dummy property with a metadata-extension which provides the last, the first or whatever single lock and then display this property. This would need some combination of configuration and development.

Hope it helps

Hi Detlev,

thanks for your answer, this helps. I hoped that there is a solution without extra development (e.g. a predefined property). So it has to work this way.

Frank
