Hi,
I understand that we can use NetWeaver developer studio to develop java iViews to deploy in EP6.0. If that is the case if we develop iViews based on PDK5.0.5.0 and Eclipse Plugin compatible with EP5.0, still can we upload the iviews into EP6.0?. If not what version of PDK and Eclipse plugin need to be used to for EP6.0 compatible iViews.
Why can't Eclipse plugin for PDK develpopment can be included with Netweaver developer studio itself, so that if need be webDynpro based iviews or java based master iViews can be developed from a single Eclipse IDE. Ofcourse I don't mind havinf PDK Tomcat Servlet engine for viewing Portal runtime.
Thanks,
Suresh
Here's a question. If you are starting out should you use the PDK or Netweaver Developer Studio? Is there a big difference between the two? Or is there a good reason to use both versus one or the other?

So far I've found that Netweaver Developer studio only works on WebAS 6.30 or higher. And to avaoid versioning problems it might be best to wait until 6.40 comes out in the late summer. I've been talking with SAP and consultants and it seems that for now we will use Eclipse and the Enterprise Portal 6.0 to do our development.
As a side note, I can't get the sneak preview version of the Netweaver Developer Studio to work. Keep getting an "Internal Sever Error" message when I try to run the WebDynpros. Anyone figure out how to get around this?
Please keep in mind that 6.20 run under Java 1.3, while 6.40 runs under 1.4. If you mess up those two then there is not the slightest chance to run that stuff.
It is possible to have both on the same host, but you have to be careful what you do - for example the java_home variable should not be set because then every java app try's to go there and that kills one or the other....
If you want to, we can go into details, but for this I need more concrete error messages.

Benny
