DS 1.4 Translation Problem

Former Member

Hello,

I would like to use the new translation feature of the DS 1.4 which seems to be a big improvement.

I created a new dashboard, added a few buttons, the TEXT_POOL component and saved this on the Netweaver platform.

So now I want to translate the texts.

In the Designer Guide I read, that these texts will be stored for each application in the TLOGO object table RSAO_T_TEXT for each analysis application and we can use the se63 to translate.

But unfortunately I have no idea how to do this. I could not find the before mentioned table in my BW-system.

When using se16 to show the tables, the system tells me, that there is no such table.

Are there any other ways to display the table?

Or how do I select this specific table within the se63 transaction to translate it.

Sorry for the question, maybe it is a very simple thing but I am mainly concerned with the front-end design and I found no detailed information on the SAP help pages.

Regards

Steffen

Hi Steffen,

the feature is working as of today only in LOCAL mode.

For BIP, the corresponding implementation is planned for next release (1.5, Q2 2015).

For NW, there is a prerequisite of SP and additional SAP Note,

see 2051284 - Design Studio NetWeaver translated Texts

the SPs are in the PAM in detail, see

and, the current implementation is supporting translation objects per application, there is no connection to any central table as of now (planned in the future).

Thanks Karol for this hint.

I seems that I overlooked some information.

So I will have to talk with our Adminsitrator to install the newest service pack and then try again or wait until the 1.5 which should work with BIP.

Maybe I misunderstood something, I thought that there is one table per application where all the translateable texts are stored. But the TLOGO object table RSAO_T_TEXT means that every object has its individual table, right?

As far as I can find all the objects in the translation environment within the BW it is no problem to translate each object.Until now I even wasn't able to find these objects here..

Hi Steffen,

no, there is the only one table (physical table) for TLOGO, but this table has techname of the app and type as "KEYs", then also some generated guid is placed as additional KEY, and then the texts which can be translated (assigned to the objects).

every object has entries in this table, like this:

this means, there is one table, but it is not possible in this release to share translated texts between many applications, all application related texts are saved with connection to this only one application.

sharing would be similar to WAD, RSBEXTEXTS table (or how this was called).

Thanks Karol,

you helped me a lot to better understand this.

The table from your screenshot is shown by using the se16 and then insert TLOGO, right?

In my system I see no entries, which may be caused by the missing SP...

I will try it as as soon as the newest SPs are installed.

this is SE16 screenshot form our Q-system. you will see the entries when the SP is on and the function is active.

Hi Karol,

thanks for your answers.

After the christmas break we installed the new SP of the BW.

I just created a small test apllication with Design Studio and added the text_pool to try the translation feature.

I checked the TLOGO table in my BW but this table still has no entries.

When looking at the tablelist, the system tells me that it is "obsolete" but I do not understand what this exactly mean.

Do you have any idea?

Ok, I am sorry.

I tried to show the table RSAO_T_TEXT and there I see these entries as in your post:

Now I have to try in the next step to translate these test objects....

I thought that these were maintained in RSBEXTEXTS not TLOGO?

Hi,

first, good to know that it works as expected.

the texts are part of the design studio application (so part of tlogo tables). access to shared texts as in BEx is not yet possible (but on plan).

Is it possible to enter the translated text by simply adding lines for another language to this table or do I have to use the se63?

Hi Steffen,

i have also problems with the translation of applications (DS 1.4 Sp2 / BW 7.4 SP10).

I tried to add the translation directly into RSAO_T_TEXT with se16. But the TEXT is always converted to upper case. I already sent an incident to SAP.

Have you managed to translate the entries with se63? If yes, could you please describe how you did it.

thanks and regards

Hi Dirk,

I am sorry - as it worked not as expected and and other things actually do have a higher priority, I had to defer the translation issue for a while.

But I am still interested in this topic, so it would be great if you could post the answer of SAP and how you will manage the translation!

Hi,

I am very glad to discover this feature! We've got an app with TEXT_POOL, we've translated it to other 4 languages on NW.

The DS app is called from a portal and on run-time it's still showing all the English descriptions of text elements even if I test it with the user, who's language is foreign.

Do you know which Language does it take?

  • Portal
  • User
  • Browser

Any hints for troubleshooting?

Design Studio is taking the

  • Browser

language for rendering.

you can overwrite the language by putting into URL the parameter

&LANGUAGE=FR

where FR is 2-digit language code

Hi Karol,

Thanks for your reply. Since I posted my question I have had a few tests with various users without touching localization of the PC. Seems like it takes language from a user, but not sure which (portal or BW)...

Btw, thanks for the tip!

Hi Dimitry,

the browser language will be taken ONLY if no other language is set.

In case you have set user specific language, there is a special RULE which is slightly different between BIP and NW deployment.

check the documentation 8.3 in admin guides.

8.3 Language of Message Texts and Tooltips in Analysis Applications

BIP Add-On

NW Add-On

This means, my answer above was not exact. sorry.

Hi Steffen,

here ist the description how to translate the application with SE63.

  1. Open ta SE63
  2. Type TLGS in the command field and press ENTER
  3. Open the F4-help for the "Object Name"
  4. Select  Logical Object = AZAP (Analysis Application)
  5. Select the application you want to translate. The name starts with AZAP then comes the technical name of the applicationn. At the end there is 02 or 04. 02 ist the description of the application. To translate the objects from table RSAO_T_TEXT select 04.
  6. Click on "Edit"
  7. Translate your objects

SAP also sent us a workaround for the upper-case problem in table RSAO_T_TEXT. Please see note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2180526.

peers, please, be aware, that copying an Analysis Application (at least on NW) via "Save As" does not take translations to the new App yet. Reply from SAP to my OSS message:

this feature is not implemented so far.

The only chance is to write a small ABAP report that copys the text

entries in the text table.
