Gurus,

My query is timing out when i do drill down on material, could someone

please provide steps i can check to fix this issue. i have checked st03 and

following are the stats for the query;

total time = 354.8

%&OLAP = 0

%DB = 100

DB time = 354.8

everything else is 0

My report runs and drills down if i run for previous period (002/2007),

but doesn't drill-down for currecmt period (003/2007)

I don't know why it is behaving differently for current period,

any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Thanks a ton...

Have no sense a time out for current month (one day data) and work fine for february (28 days data), have you filtering by more months, for example cumulated from january?.

How you have material in your cube in dimension or navigational? how many material can be in one month? are you compressing your cube periodically? maybe a redisign can be necessary.

If we are dealing with i.e. plan data this period could easily have more records than the previous. But of course if this is actual data it makes no scense that he can not drill down for this month.

Hi Geni,

In RSRT, have a look to the query properties. Try to change read Mode. Sometimes, when read mode = H (Query to read when you navigate or expand hierarchy), the query is timing out (I don't know the reason. I had the same).

Just switch to X.

Thanks everyone for the input..

The entire time the system to execute the query is being spent on the DB side.

Some sugegstions.

1. Run RSRT with various options like multi provider explain, aggregates explain and dont use aggregates, cache mode, etc. Try also to read the query execution path. Do you have too many indexes stuff like that.

2. What do you see in the cube in listcbe. Try to make exact selections for characteristics as you have in your query and see the volume.

3. Try to run the same query for lesser selections.

4. Exceute the query in web and see.

5. May be you have to partition the cube based on fiscal period.

If you pl send the detailed cube design and query design that will be helpful.

Hi Geni.

The reason why you can't drill down in current period is propably because it contains more (too many) records than the previous, so it will time out.

I can see that the DB time is huge, so you might consider setting up some aggregates. I think it could speed up the drill-down time dramatically.

Hope it helps.
