Hai,
What is SAP EP?
Is it a technical or functional module?
is there any scope for SAP EP?
Is ABAP knowledge useful for SAP EP?
What does an SAP EP consultant do?
Please help me by answering my above doubts....
Paul.
Hi,
SAP EP is role based , web based portal, EP is two types

1.) EP stands fro Enterprise portal .
: ep Came in to Picture to devlop frond UI With out Installation of any software .and make entry the users in to single Sign on . to Reduce total cost of Ownership .
2) its not an function module or technical .
EP is Divided in to Two Parts
1) Admin Part by Basis Guys .
2) dev Part - we have two options : Webdyn pro for java (kjava guys ) ,Web Dyn pro for abap (for abapers ) .
3) yes Good Future for Sap Ep But Project duration is very less max project duration 3 months .
4)100% Useful Abap Knowledge .
5) Admin Guys Will do Configuration ,Installation .
For Dev Guys will implement an Web Based Front end UI Elements.

Venkat

Hi Paul,
1) SAP EP is a technical module where you design application using java, webdynpro and KM.
2)SAP Enterprise Portal provides a complete portal infrastructure with knowledge management and collaboration software. It comes with predefined business content that speeds implementation and reduces the cost of integrating existing IT systems.SAP Enterprise Portal allows a company to quickly and effectively integrate SAP applications and third-party applications, legacy systems, databases and unstructured documents, internal and external Web content,
and collaboration tools.SAP Enterprise Portal uses open standards, Web services, and tight integration with other components of the SAP NetWeaver platform to support heterogeneous systems from all major technology vendors
through Java; Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE); and Microsoft .NET technology.
For more information on SAP EP plx check the below mentioned thread:
3) As a portal consultant u dnt require much ABAP knowledge u basically need to deal with java, j2ee.

Hi Paul,
ABAP is SAP proprietary language. Most of their products are written in ABAP. Many times, SAP Portal heavily interacts with ABAP based back end systems. Though it is not mandatory to learn ABAP for a portal consultant, learning is very useful. It helps you become complete SAP Netweaver Portal consultant.

Uday.

Paul,
1. SAP Portal Basics :
The portal offers a single point of access to SAP and non-SAP information sources, enterprise applications, information, repositories, databases and services in and outside your organization---all integrated into a single user experience. It provides you the tools to manage this knowledge, to analyze and interrelate it, and to share and collaborate on the basis of it.
2. There is a good scope for SAP EP Consultants as the requirement is more and most demanding in the market.
3.If you want to go as a SAP EP Webdynpro Developer you may require ABAP Knowledge.Or else if you are good in Java ABAP knowledge is not required.
4.SAP EP Consultants Job:
a.Portal Implementation Sizing.
b.Installation and Configuration of Portal
c.Configuring Portal with Different Backend Systems like SCM/CRM/ECC60 etc..
d.Transport Management

g.JCO Maintenance
h.Creating iViews/Worksets/Roles/Pages/Groups.
