Does BTP Free Tier allow to configure a Service Channel for an SAP HANA Database?

Hello SAP HANA Cloud and SAP Connectivity service Team,

as described in Configure a Service Channel for an SAP HANA Database I've just tried to establish the connection, but I get this error:

In the HANA Cloud Configuration I've enabled the Cloud Connector connections:

Also I've updated the certificates in my Cloud Connector connection to the subaccount hosting the HANA Cloud.

Might this be a restriction like in the BTP Trial according to this senctence:

"The following procedure requires a productive SAP HANA instance that is available in the same subaccount."

But I would hope that for BTP Free Tier this restriction does not exist.

Hi Gregor,

In SAP HANA Cloud the cloud connector is used to reach the on-premise SAP HANA database, it does not allow access from on-premise to SAP HANA Cloud direction as I understood from the documentation.

The on-premise applications have to reach the SAP HANA Cloud directly, without cloud connector:

If you are using the SAP HANA service provisioned after June 4, 2018 (new version, available on AWS and Google Cloud) or the SAP HANA Cloud service, you can currently access SAP HANA databases only directly, without going through the Cloud Connector.

I think the same applies to paid and free SAP HANA Cloud instances.

Hi Antal,

it seems you're right. The connection from On Premise to SAP HANA Cloud seems only be possible directly and not via SAP Cloud Connector. Do you have any contact to the Cloud Connector Documentation Team? I would suggest an improvement of the page Configure a Service Channel for an SAP HANA Database to mention that this does not apply for SAP HANA Cloud.
