Difference 6.30 to 6.40

Hi folks,

as 6.30 seems to be cancelled for public release I wonder what is the main difference between 6.30 and 6.40. E.g. will a WebDynpro ABAP runtime be delivered? Is there a feature-listing somewhere around or some background material ready for the WAS 6.40? Also does the new beta2 (which I am downloading at the moment) include any of the new features of WAS 6.40 or is this strictly separated from one another?

Hello Bernd,

6.30 includes only the Java stack of the Web AS. As far as Java is concerned Web AS 6.40 will contain the 6.30 features plus the Java Development Infrastructure (JDI) components like Data Dictionary, Design Time Repository and Software Logistics. So it is fair to say that the Sneak Preview Edition you have (Web AS 6.30 beta 2) is a preview version for 6.40 and includes many but not all features of the upcoming 6.40 release.

On the ABAP side Web AS 6.40 is the release that follows Web AS 6.20. It will include among other new features Web Dynpro for ABAP.

Many greetings

Ivo
