Hello all,
How can we disbale archive log mode. Incase we disable will log (oraarch) generate or not & what are the advantages & disadvantages.Which is more recomended.
Is there any realtion between Archive log mode & Auto extents. All ideas welcome from Plz clarify...

Even when this is already solve I want to stress something that it is not clearly mentioned here.
SAP does NOT support production databases in NOARCHIVE log mode.
You should only run this logmode in database where you do NOT mind to lose data.

Incase we disable will log (oraarch) generate or not
--> nope
what are the advantages & disadvantages.
--> advantage: less disk activity, no need to manage offline redologs
--> disadvantage: impossible to run online backups. no point-in-time recovery possible.
Which is more recomended.
--> keep archive mode on

Hi Rahul,
In order to switch to the non-archive log mode
you can use the tool which is installed on the system.
Tool name is brtools and localted under /sapmnt/<SID>/exe.
There is also SAP note for your questions.
