Description is not coming from HANA XS ODATA once deployed into the gateway

Hi ,

I am facing very strange issue :

When i am calling entity set form gateway client all other attribute is coming but the description field is not coming with data even though data is there in hana calculation view also i have tested hana xs odata service in HANA and it is coming with description .

I have created odata using OCI .

Hi Jay,

I would strongly recommend to use SAP Web Dispatcher opposed to using OSCI.

If they don't have a web Dispatcher they can easily install one.

SAP Web Disapatcher is free of charge and can also be installed on the SAP Gateway Hub System if they do not want to use a separate Server.

Using a proxy is also better from a performance perspective.

Thanks you so much for your reply.

My problem is hana xs service is in different domain and i have to use the service is gateway , so i used OCI because of different domains, could you route me or refer me some body who know any other way means web dispatcher and proxy.

there was some issue in hana calculation view , it is related to values , my college change some language related setting and it works

Hi Jay,

the OSCI Integration has several technical restrictions and I wouldn't really recommend it anymore.

I plan to update the blog I wrote about this Integration accordingly.

If you have an OData Service being published via HANA XS engine why don't you consume this Service directly with your OData client?

Using a Web Dispatcher in front of the SAP Gateway Hub and the HANA XS engine you will also be able to circumvent any CORS issue.

We are currently developoing a new OData client API that will allow for an more easy consumption of OData services using ABAP code. This could be an alternative if you have the to access the data from within the ABAP stack.

Thanks for the recommendation , i will talk this with my client , but i guess they don't have web dispatcher , so that i why i used OCI , please let me know if there is any other way .
