Hi All,

We have upgraded from portal version  SAP NW 7.01  to  SAP NW 7.3 .On the quality environment , while creating an iView or creating a system object , we are frequently getting a Description: Connection Timed Out message.

On the development environment we are not facing any such problem.

can you please provide directions as to why such a message is coming up on the quality envrionment.

Regards

Niky

Dear Niky,

Can you place the application log and default trace when you are facing the time out issue.

It would be easier to analyze it.

There might be possibilty that the request are not getting forwarded from the client to server.

kindly check the logs in default trace regarding HTTP client type.

There might be kernel issue or with the application.

Hi Rishi Abrol/Ashutosh,

This issue is intermittent, since today morning I haven't faced it.However I am still checking on it,once the issue replicates I will provide with the logs.

Thanks for this bit of information. Might look like intermittent network connectivity issue to the backend systems.

Please provide the log files once you are able to replicate the issue.

Thanks

Hi All,

Today the connection timed out error came once again .Below is the log :

The received security session id related cookie is not valid. The current request will be isolated in a new session. There might be a few reasons causing this behavior: 1) Possible session fixation hacker's attack. 2) The received security session id cookie is already outdated. One possible solution is increasing the value of the 'SecuritySessionIdGracePeriod' servlet_jsp property. For more information read SAP Note 1464914. 3) No security session id cookie is sent (over http) because it is protected via custom configuration of the http service properties 'SecuritySessionIDHTTPSProtection' and 'SystemCookiesHTTPSProtection'. Revise the configuration of the http service properties or adapt the problematic scenario accordingly.

In between accessing the pages on the Portal site, have you accessed or logged into any other SAP J2EE system?

Hi,

Was this iview related to some Business object....? If it is related to the BO then did you migrate the par file using the par converter....

Try if this is the case....

1677231 - The iView creation is failing with broken link

1940155 - Connection failure when creating iView from remote source

Dont think that the it can be sp issue as you mentioned that the things are working fine on in Dev...

Can you please used the below tool to take the trace....

1771192 - (How-to) Log / Trace configuration for JAVA 7.1

We need to see the log to get the issue..... please post the error logs in NWA...

Thanks

Hi,

Is that iview linked to backend.

.On the quality environment , while creating an iView or creating a system object , we are frequently getting a Description: Connection Timed Out message.

If yes.

Have you check that the system alias is defined correctly in the system landscape properly.

what is the exact message that you get .

what error do you see in NWA.

Is the same user getting this issue again or different users are getting.

Thanks

Hi All,

We get this error at anytime on portal, it can be while creating an iView,(suppose in middle of iView creation ,I click Next then this error comes up) creating a system object ,while navigating to any role .

It is not that the iView is connecting to any backend system.

The error is only Description: Connection Timed Out , nothing more.

The error is not user specific.

Hi Niky

After you get the screen for time out above , are you able to navigate to other areas of the portal .. I am thinking that the portal browser connection might have timed out for your session..

Also

Thanks

Hi Niky

Please confirm on the exact message you are getting and the activity you are trying to perform ..

It might be that the portal connection to the ABAP systems are getting timed out ..

Also Are there any DB issues in the background while you are working on the front end portal ?

Thanks

Rishi
