Hi Team,

Can we deploy the SAP UI5 application in a different webserver like IBM WebSphere other than SAP?

In case if we can deploy, do we need to install any SAP related application's on the 3rd party webserver like WebSphere ?

Do we see need any other issues running the SAP UI5 application in terms maintaining/supporting the application.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Kiran Kumar

I have seen this scenario often and you can definitely do it but you will not have the benefit of the Fiori portal and also will have to work out how you want to handle the service layer/integration with SAP. Your other apps on websphere may already even have that worked out tho.

Some reasons one would want to do this are getting your org up and running and familiar with UI5 which is an awesome UI tool and in the long run there shouldn't be too much trouble porting things when/if your infrastructure catches up.

in this situation, why you want to go with ui5? what benefit you imagine you are going to get?

your nw is so old, I won't recommend doing any fiori development.

hosting ui5 app in websphere is also meaningless.

ui5 app and the odata service has to be in the same server, or you have to setup web dispatcher for routing.

ui5 lib just some static file, technically websphere should be able to do it. nothing running on server.

ui5 app is running at browser, nothing at server.

Hi Jun Wu,

We need to develop an application(SAP UI5 or 3rd party) to be accessed in mobile device which will execute the SAP logistics functionality. The FIORI is not enabled in our system landscape.

We have separate boxes for gateway(SAP Netweaver 7.40) and logistics (SAP R/3 4.7).

Initially we thought of going ahead with netweaver gateway and SAPUI5 development but as all other mobile application in our client landscape are created and maintained in Websphere so the client doesn't want new SAP UI5 application which we are going to develop to be deployed in SAP server separately.

If Websphere is going to provide the run run time environment for SAPUI5 then we will develop the application in SAPUI5 otherwise we have to choose a different technology for the UI creation.

Please let me know if the Websphere will provide the runtime environment for SAPUI5 application.

Thanks & Regards,

Kiran Kumar

what's the point of doing that?
