Delta INIT Issue

Hi Experts,

We have a big issue in our system. we are in BI 7.0. When we deleted some unwanted Requests in the system for reloading from SETUP tables. As part of this process, we wanted to reinitialize the DELTA INIT. Hence, we removed a couple of requests and then when we tried to delete the DELTA Init request, it removed all the other requests in the CUBE. We never imagined this situation. I know that if we remove one request, all the requests loaded later will be deleted. But, we did not think of this DELTA Init.

How Can i avoid this situation in the future. What I believe the reason for this is, we did the DELTA INIT in the system before all Full loads.

Now My questions are ,

1. How to remove DELTA INIT with out impacting other requests in the CUBE or ODS? What is the best way of loading in terms of

2. Is the Delta INIT pointer need to be set immediately after SETUP load?

3. If Delta INIT is done after FULL LOAD requests loaded, would there be any issue in terms of pulling the delta?. Is the delta pointer getting set in the extraction queue or Delta Queue?

Pl. provide your expert comments..

Hi Raj,

Usually in ODS / DSO you cant delete any of the in between requests after activation. If you try to delete the in between request, system will flag to delete all the request above the request which you try to delete. This is the feature of ODS / DSO. But in CUBE you can delete any of the request in between.

In ODS if you try to delete the init load and try to run only delta load this will result in the DSO activation failure.

To load delta:

i): If you are sure that all data is available in source system. back out all request in CUBE, delete the earlier initilisation and do complete full load once -

> then do Init without data transfer------> the run the delta.

ii): in case if you have removed certain in between request in the cube and you dont need the earlier data to be checked or added. That mean only new delta requests need to run. Then you simply delete the earlier init setting. (Not the request) This can be done by folowing steps......

a) Go to the respective infopackage -

> in menu go to Scheduler---> select the initilization option for source system--> select the init and delete it.

b) Noe rerun the init with out data transfer once again and run the delta.

iii). In DSO / CUBE if you need to correct the missing delta, then need to go for repair full request.

For your questions:

1: above explaination will answer i hope.

2. If you are doing init with data transfer, no need to set any thing.

3. if you doing full load and then init without data transfer, delta will run fine with out any issue.+

Hope this will help
