Debugging SAPUI5 project files

Hello HANA experts

Can we debug View.js and Controll.js files of SAPUI5 in SAP HANA Studio?

In all the documentation I got, it talks only about debugging Server Side JavaScript or SQL Procedures

Any help would be appreciated

Regards

Giri

Hi Giridhar,

Try to install Javascript Developer Tools plugin on your HANA Studio.

Hey Giridhar,

You can debug these with your browser's debugging tool. In Chrome, the Developer Tools are excellent and also offer many other tools apart from the debugger.

I have been using them so far. I wanted to know, if there is a way that we can debug using HANA studio as well

Hi Giridhar,

In studio, it suggests syntax formates only, shows errors if there are any syntax errors after commit,activation.. I think there is no complete debugger like browsers in studio.

Hi Pritin,

May I know what should we do, If we are not getting the page on browser.

Then the only way to debug view.js is through Studio only.

Thanks,

What do you mean by "not getting the page on the browser"? Can you elaborate? If a script file has been loaded over the network, it will be available in the 'Sources' tab of your debugging tool.

Assuming you are using Javascript views, as suggested by Pritin, press F12 on the browser, go to Networks tab and do (Ctrl+F) and check for the JS view. If its not loading Console tab would definitely have an error.

In case you are using XML view check for XML parsing errors via WebIDE or any other XML validator tool.

PS: Its always advised to open a new thread for a new query.
