Database server with SSD drives

Hi.

One of our customers is about to upgrade their database server, and have asked for requirements. Is a pure SSD drive setup the way to go for SQL Anywhere 16? Or is perhaps a hybrid solution with SSD for the system disks and 10000 RPM SATA og SCSI drives in RAID for the database. The most important issue is performance, of course. Backup is done every night to a SAN.

I am thinking Quad Core CPU with fairly high frequency, 32 GB of RAM and Windows Server 2016.

But I could really need some feedback on the choice of drives and RAID setup to boost performance as much as possible.

Regards,

Bjarne
