I just have installed Dashboard Designer on one client pc, and I would like to authorize one specific user to create dashboards analysis using our Universes (published on SAP BO machine). Which kind of auth level do I have to give him? Must be an administrator or can it be also a standard user with full rights on Universe folder ?
Request clarification before answering.
OK...finally I could understand what was wrong. On the universes I set on the specific universe that we had to use, the authorization FULL Control to that user. But at a TOP-LEVEL AllUniverses there was indicated "everyone - no access" so I think this was prioritary to the specific auth (well for Dashboard it was, for webi not in fact in webi he could use the universe without problem). Now to soolve it, I set at top-level the auth = full access, and then I went on universes in exception and set for that user No-access: result on the specific one there was still full-access (inherited) and on the others there was no-access. Exactly what I wanted to have!!

Hi,
Administrator rights is not required, create a new user and assign him only the read rights so that he can only access the universe. Not only universe in the whole BOE he can only access the information. If you want the user to allow with both edit and access then give him read & write.
Unless until its needed for some R&D, no need of administrator rights.
Hope this helps.

Hi SImona,
There is no need of giving Administrator rights for a user to create dashboards on the universe. Create the user and assign the rights so that he can access the specific universes which are required. This way he can work on the required universes.
Thanks&Regards,

I gave him full control on the universe folder and full control on the universe (.UNX)...but when he open the dashboard designer and ask for a new "Query" using "universe" (and not BExx) , he cannot see the folder with universe in the query builder, but only the BO application server name...without any folder under it. That's why I was wondering about rights....
I don't understand why...I also checked the dswsbobje path setting in CMC and it is correct.
Any other idea?
Hi,
Follw the SAP Note 1626965.
1. Logon to Central Management Console (CMC).
2. Go to Applications.
3. Now double click on Web Service and go to Properties.
4. Update the Access URL as mentioned below and click on Save & Close:
http://<WebServer>:8080/dswsbobje
5. Launch Dashboard Design, open Query Browser, click on Add Query and enter BusinessObjects Enterprise logon credentials.
6. Notice that the Add Query window appears with the list of universes.
Hope this helps!!!

Already tried all the steps indicated in both the discussion.
It is not working. Even if the user has FULL CONTROL on universe and its folder...this user cannot see universe in Query browser when opening the Dashboard designer. On the same pc if I use an administrator user, everything is working fine. So it is not a problem of Web service configuration and not a problem of program setup. It really seems only a problem of rights....but this user has full control on that universe and also full control on Web service (from CMC).
Anyone solved this problem?
