Cumulated key figure - formula

Former Member

Hi,

We have a requirement of calculating YTD Actual % for each month

Reports columns

Current Years Cumulative Sale

Previous years Cumulative Sales

YTD Actual %

Formula: (((Current Years Cumulative Sale / Previous years Cumulative Sales) -1 ) * 100)

Report rows are from Jan to Dec.

YTD Actual is calculating % for each row (Sale for current and prior year) instead of summing up all previous rows sales (cum sale).

Any one knows any solution to this?

Steve

Hello Steve,

In rows create a structure with Months Jan to Dec.

Now with two structures you will be able to use cell editor .

check this link on how to use cell editor.

Hi Steve,

Create a structure in rows with 12 months from Jan to Dec. For Jan restrict the month to 1, for Feb restrict the month to Jan and Feb(to get the cumulative sales for 2 months), for MAr restrict the month to Jan, Feb and March(to get the cumulative sales for 3 months)...thus for Dec restrict the month to Jann, Feb, Mar,.......Nov, Dec.

I hope I undestood the question right and hope this helps...

You can add something like Counter dor each entry.

1) you add this "counter" in transfer rules and fill with constant "1".

2) Now, you have Counter="1" for each entry.

3) You add calculated key figure "Counter" like following:

= "Counter", but in propeties in "Enhance"(left, lower corner) you detected "Average all values" and select your characteristic.

4) Crete 2 calculated key figure like following:

'Counter' / 'Counter (created in point 3)'

5) Now you have counter for you chracteristic. When you drilldown your caracteristic - you will see "1" in each entry. When you remore drilldown - you will see numbers of characteristic, like "3", "2" and etc.

6) to calsulate average persent you just create simple formula, in which you divide you % on counter. When you drilldown your caracteristic - you will the same %. When you remore drilldown - you will average % for each line.

You have to select the cumulative option on the properties of your formula. depending on which version you are using ...

in NW2004s, go to the properties window, calculation tab. There's a checkbox under "Calculate Single Values as..." called "Cumulative".

In 3.x, right click on the formula --> Properties. Under the Calculations section you should see a checkbox for "Cumulative"

Hi Adam,

The Cumulative property is only a display property. You cannot use the cumulated value in any further calculations.
