Hello
Does anybody know how to see BW technical names in a BICS Connection apart from descriptions?
After upgrade from CR 2008 using MDX connections to CR 2011, I'm trying to convert them manually to CR for Enterpise 4 but mappings is becoming very hard.
While source (MDX connection) shows technical+standard text (from BW repository), target (BICS) onlys show descriptions (coming from BEx query), which are different from repository.
Actually it could be automatically if used technical names instead.
Any thoughts?
Best Regards
Erick

Hi Erick,
Yes, that's how it is unfortunately.
Crystal Reports 2011 connects to BEx query using the SAP BW MDX Driver, while CR4E connects through the BICS Layer.
I'm sure this is due to the difference in the drivers and connectivity layers that fall between.
I've also seen issues in the past when the reports created using the old SAP BW Query driver wouldn't map correctly when trying to migrate to CR 2011. There's a huge difference in the way both these drivers bring back objects from the query and hence the reports had to be re-written in most scenarios when converting to CR 2011.
I guess you're in a far better position as far as migrating CR 2011 to CR4E goes!
