hello,
i searched the software downloads section for a sample database to use when i download the trial version of crystal reports 2011. i couldn't find one. i'm hoping someone can tell me if one exists and if it does, where it is. i remember that crxi came with a sample database and reports, so i'm thinking that the new version does also and that i just can't find it.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
tracy
Hi Tracy,
The 2008 samples are at:

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Tracy,
CR 2011 is still in Ramp up mode ( sort of like beta but SAP's terminology for it ) so the samples won't be available. I'll check with the Product team if they are planning on providing a link to download them or not.
In the mean time use the samples you have or from the link Brian provided.
Thank you
Don
Hi Don,
Thank you for explaining what "ramp up" was and checking witht he Product team to see what the plans are for sample data for cr 2011. I was somewhat stumped by ramp up because I thought that CR 2011 was already available for sale.
I did download the samples files from the link that Brian gave me.
Thanks again
Tracy
Hi Don,
I take it that "GA" has something to do with releasing the final product. Am I close?
As I said in my previous message, for some reason I thought that CR 2011 was already being sold. I guess whatever I read wasn't right. I'm sorry for any confusion that my messages may have caused other readers.
Tracy
Hi Tracy,
Yes GA is final release to the public. It's the way SAP does software releases, We now do beta internally and once that is past that stage then it goes out to a few select Partners and customers to test in production environments to find any remaining bugs that Beta testing did not discover. Makes more sense because no matter how much Beta testing is done it never finds all that Real Production Servers can find.
After checking around ALL versions of CR 2011 and BOE 4.0 now comes with a support contract. BOE 4.0 comes with an agreement to be signed that indicates it's still in testing mode, I have not seen the Doc so not sure exactly what it covers. For CR 2011 you may have had to sign one also or in the fine print it indicates the same?
So you should have a User account that will get you logged into Service Market Place ( service.sap.com ) then For Customers then click on SAP Support Portal. If you did purchase CR 2011 and not using the Trial version you can log a case.
Anyways, bottom line is it's still in Ramp up mode so it's not completely packaged yet...
Thanks again
Don
Hi Don,
Back in June, you let me know that CR 2011 is still in ramp up. Now that it's being sold on the SAP site, does that mean that it's out of ramp up and available for the general public? If so, has the xtreme database been updated for CR2011? If not, any idea when it will be?
Thank you
Tracy
Hi Tracy,
I did ask back then and Jackie here is building a complete set of samples but they did not know when they would be available. I believe they will be for download from our SDN download page when they are finalized and ready.
Many changes with a Win32 and Java Report Designer there are many more samples that need to be created...
Thanks again
Don
Hi Tracy,
So what I've discovered is there won't be a complete set of samples for CR 2011/BOE 4.0. There will be some "feature" reports released and they will all be published on this link:
Jackie has push some of them up there already. As for the generic and legacy Xtreme samples use the CR 2008 samples from our download page, there are no differences:
Because of the changes and addition of the Java Report Designer ( Crystal Reports For Enterprise ( CR4E ) the old standards no longer are complete so rather than packaging a completely new set they will be releasing updates as time allows with new feature complete functionality.
Thanks again
Don
Thank you for looking into this some more and for the update Don.
I was hoping that the xtreme db would have the dates updated in the tables so that I would not have to do it to test some reports. Having the dates updated makes it easier to test the functionality. More importantly, when I run into a problem and need to post a message here, it makes it easier to provide an example that you can check for yourself. Does this make sense? I wonder why this will be the first time that the database isn't being updated.
Thank you
Tracy
Hi Tracy,
Ah, makes sense..... It's simply a matter of time. Lot's of updates to BOE 4.0 and the whole process of releasing now that SAP has taken over how we do things.....
Eventually we may, they just can't commit time to do it now or if it ever will be....
Same thing as the samples SQL Server used to provide, they no longer are shipped either...
Thanks again
Don
