I have a VB6 application that uses the Crystal Reports 11 ActiveX Viewer. I would like to update our application to use the Crystal Reports 2008 Viewer. Can I use the CR ActiveX Viewer 12? Is this supported? I did read a blog that said as of CR 11.2 it would not be supported or included. However, I see it is listed in my list of COM object on my machine?
Thank you for you help.
In a word; no go (OK, two words ).
See the following for more details:

Umm, and please do search these web pages before posting. The search term "RDC support" (top right corner of this page) should have come up with the information you are looking for.

Right. Note that in the blog "Use of the Report Designer Component (RDC) in VS .NET" I actually do go into reasonable detail as to why this is the case...
+You will still find the craxDDrt.dll and crviewer.dll in Crystal Reports 2008 as well as in all the versions of Crystal Reports that bundle with VS .NET. E.g.; Crystal Reports version 10.5 (Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 20080) and Crystal Reports 10.2 which bundled in Visual Studio .NET 2005 as well as Crystal Reports 9.1 which bundled with VS .NET 2003. As mentioned in the Background section above, craxDDrt.dll was used in VB 6 for the creation and modification of reports within the VB 6 IDE (as well as at runtime when using RCAPIs). In Visual Studio .NET craxDDrt.dll is also used for report creation and modification in the .NET IDE. +

I'm not using .NET, I'm using VB6. I didn't want to write a .NET COM wrapper so I could access CR2008 if I didn't have to. I saw that the ActiveX 12 was an available resource in VB6, so I though maybe since it was still included SAP had a change of heart for legacy applications and developers to easily integrate CR2008 into their applications. I just wanted to verify, even after reading those posts, that I really could not use it.
Thank you for you help.
The following paragraph was added to the blog in question:
July 27, 2010 Update
This update stems from the forum post Crystal Reports 2008 Viewer where the developer is asking if he can use the RDC in a VB 6 application. Note that version 12.x RDC is not licensed to be used in development under any circumstances. Does not mater what language. Also, note that with CR 2008 (v. 12.x), you will only find the crviewer.dll and the craxDDrt.dll. CraxDDrt.dll always required extra Report Creation API license anyhow.
