Crystal report XI bug(Supposed)

I use Crystal Report XI developer italian (version 11.0.0.1282) and I develop an application using VB6 (sp6) and an access2000 mdb.

in the viewer,I have a stretched logo on the top of the report, and beetween the first and the second page there are in xample "Element1" and "Element2".

now, the problem is: if I use the pdf export of crystal report, the output is exaclty the same of the preview, but if I use a printer (both pdf printer or a normal printer), I have my logo not stretched and Element1 and Element2 are in the same page.

what's wrong?do I forget something?

Do I need to update my version?if yes, could you please provide me the right link to update my version(I don't understand which version is correct for updating between Crystal Report XI,Crystal Report XI release1,Crystal Report XI release 2)?

NOTE:I have a zip file with the sample for this problem, but I don't know how to attach it to this post, if you need it, I can provide it to you in some way

Thanks

Andrea

I would start with moving to CR XI release 2. You can download it from here:

https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006008462008E/crxir2.zip

Before installing SP 2, uninstall CR XI release 1 (11.0). Use the CR XI release 1 keycode to install XI r2.

Next, just an FYI. CR XI r2, is the last version of Crystal reports to ship the RDC. RDC has been retired in the currently shipping version of Crystal Reports (CR 2008). See [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/11624] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]; blog for more details.

Once you have CR XI r2 installed, I recommend that you also download and apply the latest Service Pack from here:

https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100013876392008E/crxir2win_sp5.exe

As the issue occurs when printing, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a09051e9-721e-2b10-11b6-f9c65c64ef29] article re. Crystal Reports and printers.

I would also recommend searching the notes database for possible tips, etc. that may help. Link to the notes database is here:

thank you for your reply,I did this, now something seems to works better.

The picture at the top of the page is stretched both in preview and in print, so it is correct, but there's again a difference between the quantity of elements in the page printed and the page previewed.

I don't know if I can send you the preview image of the two situations, if I print with a pdf printer (and with a normal printer) between the first and the second page, I can see the footer and the page number of the first page shifted down and in the first page, there are 2 elements more than the previewed page. With the printer inside crystal report, this works perfectly.

I don't know if I must set something in the crystal report designer to lock in some way the footer...

thanks

Do you see this in the designer as well as runtime?

In the CR designer, Go to Help | About. What version do you see here?

Also, if you do the following, do you see any difference in the designer and / or runtime:

Open the report in the Designer

Go to the File menu and select Page Setup

Place a checkmark at "No Printer"

Save.

I have the version 11.5.11.1470 (I have update following the above procedure)

I've never tried to do all the procedure in the designer, but now that I've tried, I saw that the behaviour is very very strange.

I have my file .rpt, and I see the preview of my report loaded, when I press the print button, before choosing the pdf file of my pdf printer, the preview in the designer changes by itself to the wrong one...(the footer shifted down and more articles than before in the page)

Here you can find what I mean...

I hope this may help

thanks

I think that I'm near the solution.

With the example above, if you choose the page setup in crdesigner and select the autocorrection of the borders of the page, if I print with a printer, the result remains ok.

Does someone know how to set the autocorrection of the borders in vb?

I hope that someone may help me,

here you can find a small vb project with this bug (I try it on a clean machine and with a printer like pdfcreator)

[Sample of bug|http://www.betacad.com/arredo/testcr.zip]

Look at the articles listed at the end of the first page and at the beginning of the second.

the crviewer preview and the pdf printer (not the pdf export) output are different

Hello,

Open the report in the designer and go to Page setup and try using the no printer option or use default printer. Also adjust the margins so that no matter what printer you use CR will not adjust for the printer limits.

When CR renders the page it uses both the video driver/screen resolution and the printer driver to figure out how to format the page. Changing Printers will change your results.

I suggest you get this working properly in CR Designer first and then try prining. If it doesn't work in the designer it work work in code either.

If you are still ahving problems making this work in the Designer I suggest you purchase a case on line and get a Support Engineer to help you format your report so it works the same in both cases.

Thank you

Don
