Hello,
This one is giving me a huge headache. I am trying to install Crystal Reposrt Application Server 9 (I know, really old version) onto a virtual machine which is using VMware ESX 3.5. Every time I install the application, the Crystal Reporting Application Server service will not start. Is there a known issue with this version of Crystal RAS and installing it on a virtual machine?
The only error information I am given is on a popup window during the installation. It reads:
Error 1920: Service 'Crystal Report Application Server' (CrystalReportApplicationServer) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
The only errors in the event viewer on the server are these:

The application, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\bin\querysrv.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 01/21/2009 @ 14:40:24.455 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7FF2FBFC (<nosymbols>)

Hi James,
Try the following one it may helps to get resolve the issue
1) System Properties -> Advanced Tab->Performance->Setting->Data excution prevention
2) Click on the turn on the dep for all programme redio button(The second Button)
3) Add Crystal Report.exe file of the version you are installing
And try to install
Let me know the result once you done with these steps so that we can go ahead for some other
Work arounds.
