Crystal Database Expert asking for username and login for Dbase files

When I attempt to connect to Dbase tables using the native Xbase connections in the Database Expert, after selecting a .DBF table I am asked for a Username and Password. These tables are not encrypted or password protected and I am unable to add them as data sources. I am using Crystal Reports 2008 updated to the latest hotfix version

I am working on a Dbase project and need to integrate Crystal Reports for my reporting solution. I have already looked at the DLL paths in the registry for the Borland Database Engine as suggested in another forum post and they all point correctly to the location of the Borland shared components.

I am running the Borland Database Engine version 5.2 and the tables are in Dbase 7 format so they must be accessed through the BDE.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Brad,

Don't use the XBase driver. You should see the option to choose Database which is the one you should be using. I believe the Xbase driver or very old and based on Microsoft's JET engine. I don't believe they have updated it in a long time.

Thank you
