Hello all,
i try install MAXDB software and create new instance of database via remote desktop on windows XP (database manager => create => custom => ... LiveCache ...). Most of parameters are default.
It gets error:
The operational state of the database instance could not be determined [db_state -v];
Then I do the same steps without using remote desktop - everything is OK (the same account).
Why is that/where is the difference?
We use remote desktop to maintain our system - bad idea for reinstall MaxDB?
Regards,
Lukasz.
WIN XP prof SP2, MAXDB 7.6.03.07, Database Manager 7.06.03.02
The first thing, that came to my mind reading your post was, are all rights and privileges the same in the case of a remote desktop use?
I'm no Windows specialist, but at least I know, that remote access is restricted in XP.

Hi Thomas,
thanks very much for help but privileges are the same (admin account).
I just figure out what was wrong: Users were different (user ID). Both admin's (the same account) were logged, and had different ID.
In that case you can't (if you aren't first in users queue):
- connect to database: -24961,ERR_STATE: The operational state of the database instance could not be determined 24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error
- cerate database instance: -24988 SQL error [db_activate...]; -902,I/O error
etc.
MAXDB/xserwer works well with first user only.
Solution is simple: turn 'fast user switching' of (control panel -> users).
I hope this hint will be useful for other people working with XP prof.
Regards,
Lukasz.
