This is the error I receive when trying to connect two tables in a report "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Running XP SP3. Connecting with just one table works fine. Existing reports with two tables will work fine. Only when attempting to create a new report does this error occur.
We are connecting to the ODBC source PFW. It was working fine but starting giving this error. Reinstalled and still have same error. Have installed both updates as well.
Thanks in advance.
Also, here is the error details:
Error report

Don't know if that will help.

That does help. MSVC80 is used to connect most of our DB drivers to the clients.
It may be you are missing it or you need to update it.
Download the MS C++ redist package:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=14431
then try again.
If that doesn't work do you know if the ODBC is ANSII 92 Compliant? Have you looked to see if they have a newer driver package?

Hi Chris,
Can you use this ODBC connectivity & Query test(SQLCON32) tool to test if we write a custom query to access the data from two diffrent tables using join in SQL.
Here is the link to download SQLCON32 tool:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252882008E/sqlcon32.zip
This tool will tells us if we have problem in communication between the database and ODBC connection.
Try the test and let us know.
Thanks,
Kuldeep G
I installed the patches after this error had been occurring for some time. The versions of the patches are: Patch 8-14.0.2.532
Patch 2-14.0.2.397. That is all I have in add/remove programs. The connectivity to the database works because you can create a report with one table. I also deleted all temp files and disable the antivirus and still got the error. Running as administrator also did not work. Another person has CR XI and his is working fine. Thanks for the assistance.

Hi Chris,
Go into Add/Remove Programs an see what versions are installed? The Help About... doesn't update the patch version.
Is there another tool you can use to test connectivity to that DB?
If you go into the ODBC Administrator and Test the connection, if that option exists, does it still work?
Try deleting all files, close all programs first, from your c:\temp and c:\tmp or your users temp folders.
Does anyone else there have CR instlaled and are they having the same problem?
It could also be your anti-virus software is blocking CR from accessing the ODBC driver. Try right lcicking on crw32.exe and selecting Run As Administrator. Then try logging into the PC as the local Administrator and see if that works.

Hello,
What is PFW?
What version of CR 2011 are you using? Go into Add/Remove Programs to see what patches are installed.
