CR 2008. Display BLOB into report

I wish to load a generic BLOB file stored in a table.

Dragging the query field into the report, only pictures are displayed. if BLOB contains other generic documents (ie: PDF, Excel sheets, Word documents), nothing appears.

Is there a way to embed generic BLOBs into my report?

thanks

Hi Antonio,

This is a known limitation.

The workaround involves loading these file types as an OLE Object from a shared drive instead.

do you mean I should insert an OLE object from main menu?

I tried to insert OLE object, linked to a pdf file stored in a directory. I got this message: "Failed to create object. Make sure the application is entered in the system registry". Is this the right approach?

Yes, that's correct.

Could you trying inserting the same OLE Object in a Word file? Does it throw an error?

I placed a OLE object linked to a docx file stored on my computer. it works. But I can not link it to my BLOB field (error message: "blob field or memo field cannot be used in a formula").

So I tried to use a DB field containing the file path. Formula works, but at runtime the report still display the docx file statically linked to the object
