Connectivity to SQL Server 2008; BO4 Edge, CR2011

Hi,

I am running here a BO4 Edge server. The repository is on the BO-server itself, it's the SQL Server Express edition that comes with BO (WinServer 2008).

I now would like to connect it to a SQL Server 2008 so that we can refresh Crystal Report 2011 documents, that should be based on that server, within Launchpad.

At the "Product Availability Matrix" document I read that SQL Server 2008 is supported as CMS and Audit repository.

  1. Does BO4 Edge support SQL Server 2008? Do I have to install additional drivers on Windows Server 2008?
  2. Does Crystal Reports 2008 or 2011 support SQL Server 2008?

Thanks!

You need to have 64bit DSN created on the server pointing to your SQL server , this one is for BI4.0 Edge server, which is 64bit app + you need 32bit DSN as well so that CR2011 server components and Designer (all 32bit) can connect as well -  that's about it.

It is a YES to all your other questions.

The Official guides here : http://help.sap.com should help with the rest.

Hi,

You should be able to connect to sql server 2008(reporting db) from crystal 2011 or BI 4.0 edge

Check the below points

1. Make sure you have correct sql server 2008 drivers installed on BI4.0 or crystal 2011 server

2.If the crystal reports are developed using odbc you need to create the same odbc connection on BI 4 or crystal 2011 server

Hope this info helps
