Hi,
Newbie questions here...
1. How can i see if my data source is delta enabled?
2. Why basically all business content data sources are not delta enabled by default? What is the benefit of having them not being delta enabled?
3. What is the ODS role in a scenario that we extract data from a non delta enabled data provider to an ODS and then basically use the activated data table in the ODS for accomplishing delta extraction to an Info Cube?
4. Can some refer me to some good and deeper information on those??
Thanks.
hi,
1. use transaction rsa6 if business content and rso2 if generic extractor, you can see if 'Delta Update' is marked or not.
or via table ROOSOURCE (transaction se16), field DELTA,
entry oltpsource with your datasource name and objvers = 'A'.
2. basically business content datasources are delta enabled. delta enabled should have more benefit than not delta enabled, in terms of reducing data loading time, only changes are loaded (reduce volume data).
3. ods handling delta management by using change log table.

1)ROOSOURCE table, field DELTA (in source system)
2) Since this is not always useful...some extractors have to be used only one time in a long period or master data is not so huge...(a company code can have 10 entries, but you can always do a full with no problem..)
3)The ODS allows to overwrite (and the cube doesn't allow this!) diuplicated records that you can upload in your system when you try to use a pseudo-delta (look at generic delta concept in thiese forums...)...
4)go to help on line or in these posts...
Hope it helps!
Bye,
Roberto
