Combine different column values into one row

Dear,

I am quite new to Business Objects and I am wondering why some things behave differently.

I created a cross table with testing parameters in the columns, and the testing location and dates in the rows. I also attached (two versions) of my current crosstab.

My problem is that if I put the results as "Dimension" in the body of the crosstab, a new row is created for every single result, whether or not the result was received on the same date. However, if I put the results as "Measure" into the body of the crosstab, the results are combined on a single row for a specific date. (You can see the differences in the two pictures I attached).

I would like to have only one row which contains all the results (values) of the different columns. However, I would like to be able to not only use numeric values, but also for example "less-than" signs or "n.a.".

So, the question is, how can I make use of other than numeric values in the body of the cross tab, and at the same time have the rows combined so that the values in the different columns appear on a single row?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Robert,

not sure of what exactly you want to accomplish, can you please attach a screenshot from a spreadsheet where you show what you need?

Thanks!

Hi Simone,

I attached two PNG images in my previous post, the first one (BO_single_row) shows all results for one date on a single row. The second one (BO_separate_rows) shows that BO creates a new row for each of the different results, so you get same dates on separate rows.

However, in the meantime I solved my problem; I changed the "Qualification" of the variable from "Dimension" into "Measure". Now all the results that are retrieved on one date, are on one single row.

Regards,

Robbert.

Now I understand what you meant...  Indeed, the measures are intended for doing aggregation of numeric values.  Please remember to remove the associate list of values checkmark in the universe otherwise you may have performance issues..

Thanks
