Hi Experts,

What are the pre-requisites for ChaRM set up in Solution manager 7.2 ?

* Is IT-Servicedesk management set up mandatory and configured before the ChaRM execution in SOLMAN_SETUP?

* Please share with me the TechED and webinar links of ChaRM 7.2 setup and regular activities..

I would appreciate all of your inputs and help.

Thanks in advance

Hi Daniel,

  • ITSM is not mandatory for ChaRM.
  • All the nodes in the solman_setup transactions are provided with comprehensive details and should provide enough information for you to setup the functionality.

Kind regards,

Yee-Tee

Nope- ITSM is not a part of ChaRM:

we are speaking about two several scenarios: ITSM is handling Incident, Problems and Requests; ChaRM is managing transports and puts an authorization workflow onTop.

ChaRM and ITSM are using the CRM WebUI as an user interface - but next to this they are separated into two separate functionalities (e.g. via different transaction types).

In short words: you've got ChaRM on the one hand; ITSM on the other: both can work w/o the other one. Ofcourse there are some synergies while using ITSM and ChaRM together: for example creating a Change Request as a followUp from an incident.

Many companies use ITSM scenario's including the change process supported with ChaRM.

Some only use ChaRM to manage (mainly) SAP transports. You can also setup ChaRM for non-transport changes, AKA administrative changes.

Thanks in advance

Hello Daniel,

as always: mandatory configuration needs to be done before you start with any functional scenario.

Next to this you need to take care about the system landscape(s), you want to control via ChaRM: the relevant systems need to be synchronized/known in the LMDB (including transport domain) and connected via read-back-tmw-trusted RFC destination.

IT Service Management isn't a prerequisite. Just ensure the mandatory/basis configuration is done according to SAP's standard and the managed system configuration is performed.

Configuration guides can be found in note 2507306.

Kind regards

Tim
