Hello - I recommend searching; SAP has some notes on this topic: https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0001586824 and https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2908022 (logon required)

Ashok has a nice blog as well: https://blogs.sap.com/2019/01/30/sap-bi-4.2-sp07-whats-new-in-biplatform/

Good luck

In addition to what Tammy posted above, here are the instructions I use when I'm configuring a system for a client:

Customizing Fiori Launchpad

1. Deploy the Theme Designer web application.

2. Stop Tomcat.

3. Copy ThemeDesigner.war from the Collaterals\themeDesigner folder of the install to tomcat\webapps.

4. Start Tomcat.

5. In a browser, go to http://(Host Name):(Port)/ThemeDesigner.

6. Update the properties and review the page previews.

7. Click on Download to save custom-css.zip.

8. Unzip custom-css.zip.

9. Finally, add/modify the theme.enable property in the custom FioriBI.properties listed below. This will turn the customization on.

theme.enable=custom

Update com.businessobjects.webpath.FioriBI.jar

Using the instructions for updating .jar files below, do the following with <INSTALL_DIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\eclipse\plugins\ com.businessobjects.webpath.FioriBI.jar

1. Also unzip custom-css.zip to the current folder

2. Go to \web\com\sap\fioribi\css in the unzipped files

3. Delete the custom-css folder. (There are extra files here that should not be in the final deployment!)

4. Paste in the custom-css folder from custom-css.zip that was downloaded from the ThemeDesigner above.

Redeploy the Web Site

1. Stop Tomcat.

2. To prevent Windows “path too long” errors, go to <INSTALL_DIR>\tomcat\work and do the following:

a. Rename the Catalina folder to “C”.

b. Go into the C folder and rename “localhost” to “l”.

3. Delete the C folder and its contents.

4. Go to <INSTALL_DIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy and run wdeployGUI.bat.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen. This will take a while.

6. After wdeploy is complete, start Tomcat and wait for the work folder to rebuild.

7. It may be necessary for users to delete their browser cache in order for the new configuration to appear if the user has already accessed the Fiori BI Launchpad on this server.

Updating .jar Files

Java .jar files are just .zip files by another name. This is a fairly simple process for updating them so that configuration changes won’t be overwritten if the BOBJ applications must be redeployed using wdeploy.

1. Copy the specified .jar file to another folder (new file).

2. Add “.bak” after “.jar” on the file name in the original folder to keep a backup that won’t be deployed (old file).

3. Change the file extension of the new file to .zip.

4. Unzip the file to a subfolder of the folder where it’s located that has the same name as the zip file. The folders inside the unzipped folder will mirror what’s in the Tomcat\webapps or Tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost folder.

5. Add/update/delete any required files in the unzipped folders.

6. At the root of the unzipped folder, select all content and zip using the name of the file that was unzipped. DO NOT go one level up from this and zip the whole folder because the path won’t be correct when it’s deployed.

7. Rename this new .zip file to .jar.

8. Copy the new .jar file back to the location with the original file.

It's in the Collaterals\themeDesigner folder of the un-packed BOBJ install.

Unfortunately, without looking at your system and what you've done with the .jar file, I have no way of diagnosing any issues.

Did you delete the Tomcat Cache after you shut down Tomcat and before you re-deployed the web apps?
