Cannot export or preview while works in designer mode... Please!

Good morning everyone and thanks for reading this post!

I'm not an english speaker so excuse me for my poor english... i hope you'll understand my issue.

I'm under Xcelsius 12.1.1.344

I put a simple bubble graph into my canvas with a combobox. The combobox returns the label into a specific cell which is used for the vlookup cells that feed the chart.

I export --> it shows me "generating swf file" but finally it do not create the file

I preview --> after 5 mn, Xcelsius crashes with an unhandled Win32 sthg error

Ok, i am not sure to be completely clear about my issue. To summarize: i have datas in my bubble chart in the designer mode but no more datas when exporting.

I installed the FixPack 1 and even installed a VB hotfix. I have no external data connection.

Here is the link of my .xlf, maybe you can figure out the problem, i really don't get why it crashes.

Thanks a lot for your help!!!

Ludovic.

After downloading, I can't open this file. It says its is corrupted. But it might just be a bad upload. Could you try uploading again or zip the file.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for helping. The download works on my home computer, i can load the file. I am under Xcelsius 5.1; do you have the same version?

Anyway, I also uploaded the .zip file , maybe it will works better this way. Here is the link: http://cid-ce097f8e17499fc1.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/Copy%20of%20Dashboard%7C_CI%7C_Xcels...

Thanks again very much.

The zip worked.

Your model is using pivot tables but Xcelsius does not support pivot tables. It works at design time because that is only using Excel, but if at run time (SWF) if the underlying values change Xcelsius will not update the pivot table.

Centigon Solutions has a add-on called filtered summary which is a bit like a mini pivot table which may help you outu2026

Thanks very much Andy!

That's not a really good news for me but I'm gonna try the Centigon Solution. It may be good enough.

Thanks again!

Hi Andy (or anyone else following this post),

Deleting the pivot tables didn't solved my problem... I still have the "unhandled win32 error"!!

I tried what is said in this post but nothing changed.

Here is the link of my new .xlf. http://cid-ce097f8e17499fc1.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/Dashboard%7C_no%7C_pivot.zip

Does it work on your computer?

I really hope someone can figure out what happened. I still have the trial version and would like to buy the full soft ... if only it could run on my computer...

Thanks again for anyone who try to help me!

edit: and I also tried to modify the .dll, like it is said in this post

Edit 2 : It seems that the problem comes from the vlookups I used to feed my 3rd chart. They might be too complicate (?) for Xcelsius.

Hi

I just came to the same conclusion as your Edit2. I took a look at your vlookups and theY are too complicated for even me to figure out. You should try to see if a simple example works in Xcelsius before taking on such a large dataset. Try the formulas with only 2 or 3 rows of data.

What many people don't realize is that when you use formulas in design mode, the results come straight from Excel. Only when you preview or export does Xcelsius kick-in and try to evaluate the formula for itself. And Xcelsius is not a spreadsheet program.

The dev team has tried to duplicate the behavior of Excel in Xcelsius but the more complex the formulas, the more likely something will go wrong.

Also check the help for limitations on Xcelsius vlookups and other formulas.
